How did the universe begin?
several theories big bang is one single point that keeps oscillating like a simple harmonic oscillator we will all return the the point and it will begin again

The most universally accepted answer, and the one most thoroughly backed by observable evidence, is the Inflation Theory, stating that the expansion of the universe was not caused by an explosion, in the word's most common implication, but by a sudden inflation. this is observable from the fact that matter is surprisingly evenly spread throughout the universe, which dictates a much less violent start to the expansion.
A few theories exist on how the universe began. Edwin Hubble detected galaxies speeding away from each other establishing the theory of a even expansion of universes. Albert Einstein on the other hand developed the theory of relativity. The theory states that similar cosmoses are infinitely shaped by gravity. The modern approach believes that 13.7 billion years ago the “big bang” took place. At that point no time or space existed and a single hot, condensed point also known as the singularity containing all the known matter in the universe today. The four forces gravity, electromagnetism, strong, and weak were all part of the singularity. Apparently the single point lasted for 10-43 seconds (Planck epoch) before expanding at faster than the speed of light. The expansion continued until stars and galaxies were formed 300 million years ago. Other theories also exist. The steady-state theory suggests that the expansion takes place with a steady density due to endless generation of new matter. The Ekpyrotic model suggests the universe formed due to the impact of two separate universes in the fourth dimension. However, the “big bang” theory is mostly accepted.
The Big Bang theory is currently outdated...by inflation theory. But since it hasn't reached the ears of the people, The Big Bang is the most popular.
@ Sinthius Inflation Theory is an extension of Big Bang and not a replacement. Inflation theory explains what happened after big bang. The beginning of universe is explained by Big Bang theory and Inflation theory is a part of the Big Bang theory.
your mileage will vary, no one knows for certain.
god made it jk
who made god?
"Scott falls asleep in history class because the devil makes him do it" Is NOT a testable hypotesis and therefore does not lend itself to the scientific process.
A better question is, why does it exists. Why does it need to be? Stan asked a very important question.
