are cells being FACS sorted be still viable if subcultured

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think FACS sorted cells won't be able to survive the treatment they're exposed to. They are first "hit" by a laser, which is a wave, and waves damage nucleic acids. after that, they are electrically charged, which I think causes problems to the normal equilibrium of charges across the lipid bilayer, wich allows the cell to mantain a stable electric potential through it, essential for transport of substances in- or outwards. in the end, cells must go through an electromagnetic field to be sorted. I don't think all of this helps the cell to survive the sorting!

FACS can use to sorted cell and cell still viable. EX: EGFP EYFP ectopic expression cell, FACS can sorted the cell by different wavelength. But you should check the FACS is clean,to avoid your celsl contaminated
