what is the relationship between Fibronectin and actin cytoskeleton ?
Actin is the primary component of the cortex, an important part of the cytoskeleton that lies just under the cell membrane. The cortex is an actin "mesh" that is connected to the membrane via spectrin and ankyrin. There are many types of these proteins that connect receptors and other cell components to the membrane and the cytoskeleton, but i will spare you the whole lesson on cytoskeletons for now. Fibronectin is a glycoprotein that performs a similar function on the outside of the membrane, attaching to the extracellular matrix (such as collegen) Another class of proteins, generally referred to as integrins, go across the membrane and connect the fibronectin to the cortex.
