can there be a one sided surface ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In mathematical terms, a Mobius strip is defined as an object with only one surface see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%B6bius_strip for more information.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

However, in physical terms, there is no once sides surface. You have a point, a line, a plane, and a solid. A plane has two sides and a line has no sides. Make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A Mobius strip is a surface of one side. To construct a physical representation, start with a narrow strip of paper, and twist one end of it 180 degrees about the long center line of the strip, then join the ends. For more information on the Mobius strip, visit mathworld.wolfram.com and click on the alphabetical index.

what about a sphere or a donut

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you mean side or face?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sphere or donut would have two sides anyway, the INside and the OUTside :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sphere and donut can be a possibility if it is filled inside

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but then it would become a three dimensional object..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the mobius strip is 3d and there is another called Klein bottle that is 4d
