How do you simplify the following equation: (2x^2-5)-(x+7)(4x) ---------------- (2x^2-5)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply out in the numerator using the distributive property and then combine like terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2x^2-5-4x^2-28x\] \[=-2x^2-28x-5\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so answer is \[\frac{-2x^2-28x-5}{(2x^2-5)^2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nothing cancels if you have written the numerator correctly.

Yeah~ that's what I got also it just looked odd because I thought it could be simplified more, but I guess not! Thank you!
