If 2 quantities have same dimension, do they have to represent the same physical quantity?
No. Like Work and Energy have same dimensiional formula, but they are definitely different physical quantities.
Also for the Work & Torque there is same position, Since W = F.d and also torque = F.(perpendicular distance). Hey...It isn't necessary that if two quantities have same dimensions they represent same physical quantity... Dimensions just say that you aren't wrong while deriving a formula and but thy don't tell if you are perfectly right...
Dimension are values which represent measurement of a quantity , well it does not mean that that the two quantities measured are the of the same type.....like measuring the length of a field ,suppose :15m and length of a cardboard ,suppose= 1m. Therefore...not necessary they represent two quantities..
@Ackbar: not sure why work and energy are not the same physical quantities... work is just a transfer of energy
