Jim tells lies on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, but tells the truth on all other days. Freda tells lies on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and tells the truth on all other days. If they both both say "Yesterday I lied", then what is today?
Noday
Jim Freda Mon TRUE x tues x TRUE Wed x FALSE thurs x FALSE fri TRUE TRUE Sat FALSE x Sun FALSE x The above may or may not make sense, but I'll try to explain. x means that they wouldn't say "Yesterday I lied" on that day because it is a day they are telling the truth and the day before was a day they were telling the truth. TRUE means that "Yesterday I lied" would be true for that day. On days that they lied, they would, of course, lie about yesterday which would get them a "TRUE" and on days that they told the truth, the statement would be true about the previous day. FALSE means that the statement would not make sense based on their current lie cycle. If they said "yesterday I lied" on the second day of lying, that would get a false because they wouldn't have made that statement on that particular day. Anyway, it ends up, according to my thinking, that Friday is the day that both of them could say "yesterday I lied" and it would make sense.
Friday. Jim is lying about telling the truth and Freda is telling the truth about lying.
