How do you put two points into point slope formula... y - y1 = m(x - x1)... The points are, (5.3,5.2) and (5.2,5.0) Medals! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just plug in the x value of your point for x1 and the y value for y1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need to use two points to solve for m. You only need one point for x1,y1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i do the two points separately?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, you need to use both points together in the slope formula.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where is the x2 and y2? do i need to add them to the formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait.....sorry, you only need one of those points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[m = Slope = \frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2-x_1}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need both points to find your slope, then you just pick any one of the two points for your x1,y1 values.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, what polpak said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, i get it now... Thanks peeps!
