Find and show the general solution to sin(x) = a. Explain how this general solution was obtained.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sin[x] = a x = ArcSin[a] -> "x is an angle whose Sine is a" The Sine and ArcSine functions are on most high end calculators.

OpenStudy (chaise):

Are you refferring to inverse sine when you say ArcSine?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When I was in high school, 60 years ago, the inverse issue regarding the ArcSin did not exist. The notation for the ArcSin[x], Sin{^- 1}(x) had not been introduced at the high school level or the undergraduate college level as I recall.

Okay :) thanks sir.
