Factor? 9x2+12x+4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you mean 9x^2+12x+4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9x^2 + 12x + 4 9x^2 + 6x + 6x + 4 3x(3x + 2) + 2(3x + 3) we got (3x+2)(3x+2) (3x+2)^2

satisfied or not with my solution

satisfied! thank you so much!

Whenever I see that the first and last terms are perfect squares, I immediately look to see if it's of the form\[(ax+b)^{2}=a^{2}x^{2}+2abx+b^{2}\] In this case, a=3, b=2. 2abx would equal 2(3)(2)x = 12x. So \[(3x+2)^{2}\]works.
