Just try some numbers, I tried 11 and 8, it worked: 11+8=19,11*8=88

Let l=length and w=width. Since the width is half the length, we can say the length is twice the width. So, \[l=2w\] The area is 128, so \[A=128=lw=2w(w)=2w^{2}\] So \[2w^{2}=128\] Divide by 2 \[w^{2}=64\] Square root both sides \[w=8\] Since l=2w, l=16.

Same idea as the last one, except the first equation would be l+w=18, or l=18-w Plug this into your area function A=80=lw and solve the quadratic. :)

This is very similar to the last question, do what mtbender did: write down the equations and solve them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so whats the answer? :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Tell me what you get, and I will let you know if it's right. And if it's not, I'll help you find the mistake.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8*10=80?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about this one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You could do the last one, so you can do this one. Post the answer and I'll tell if it's correct.
