0 is less than 8-3x. express using int notation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[0<8-3x\] Solve the same way you would if it was an = instead of <. Add 3x to both sides. Then divide by 3. The only thing to watch for is that if you mulitply or divide by a negative, the sign switches direction.

i got x = -8/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do u express that using interval notation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're close... \[0<8-3x\]\[3x<8\]\[x<8/3\] So x can be any number less the 8/3. In interval notation, that would be \[(-\infty,8/3)\]Infinity (positive or negative) always has the parentheis. Since you are strictly less than 8/3 (as opposed to less than or equal), the 8/3 also has the parenthesis.
