OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does this question has to do with Calculus?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes calculus

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but, my new friend helped me figure it out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know optimization

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure if I can help with it, I took Calculus 4 years ago. Give me half an hour to refresh and solve. I can't grantee answering though =$

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cause i have another problem that i needed help with.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let me give you this other problem and see if you can help me out with it okay,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the original problem i posted i solved already

During the summer months terry makes necklaces to sell on the beach. Last summer he sold necklaces for 10 dollars each and averaged 20 sales per day. When he increased the price by 1 dollar he found that he lost 2 sales per day. If the material for each necklace costs Terry 6 dollars what should the selling prices be to maximize his profit? Profit=Revenue-Cost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both questions aren't easy for me, but if you have time, I'll be able to refresh and give hints (this is just in case I couldn't solve at all). When do you need it to be solved? I'd like to know how much time I have =$

http://www.math.ucdavis.edu/~kouba/CalcOneDIRECTORY/maxmindirectory/MaxMin.html Go to problem #5. It's similar to yours but it has a rectangle instead of a square. Hopefully it helps. I'm sorry, I couldn't solve it =$

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would like that question about terry and neclaces solved, and take your time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When it says: "he lost 2 sales per day". Does this mean that he sold 18 necklaces per day or he sold 20 then the day after 18, then 16, etc. ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know I'm not helping directly >< Those are two links that I found: http://mathcentral.uregina.ca/QQ/database/QQ.09.10/h/joe1.html <-- very similar to your question http://mathcentral.uregina.ca/QandQ/topics/maximize < -- has other problems
