Can someone please help me with this answer? It's my last one for the night. Thanks 3. To estimate animal populations, biologists count the total number of animals in a small section of a habitat. The total population of animals is directly proportional to the size of the habitat (in acres) polled. a. Write an equation using only one variable that could be used to solve for the constant of variation k. b. A biologist counted 12 white tail deer in a 100-acre parcel of land in a nature preserve. Find the constant of variation k. c. If the entire nature preserve is 2,500 acres, then what

is the total white tail deer population in the preserve? Describe how you arrived at your answer.

As far as I can work out it SHOULD be something like Total Pop= Observed pop*(total area/surveyed area) As to how you would write that with only one variable I'm not sure... unless you only use one area to survey which will always be the same proportion of the total area which would mean that the equation would be something like Total Pop = x* proportion b) the proportion? c) the proportion times 12 But I really don't know sorry.. dunno about constant of variation...

I would like someone else to have a look at this. I don't think i'm right
