I am trying to get the lower sum of the curve x^2, [0,1], i am told to use for rectangles, how do i do this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am stupid. I don't know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does someone know how to do this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i meant to say that i need to use 4 rectangles??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anybody?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You need a lower sum, not the lower sum, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes , i need the lower sum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But there's not just one lower sum. By the way this is about approximating the area under graph, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean theres not just one lower sume?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can have a lower sum with one rectangle or 2 or 10 etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i understand, but my book is asking me to estimate the area under the function using a lower sum with four rectangles.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you follow me to this white board http://www.twiddla.com/574069

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok
