factor by grouping 5x^2-15xy+45y-15x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u know completing squares ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i could give u the answer... but working on it will be much better

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know how to do it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i'l teach you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its easy all u have to do is to make squares

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look at the eq. u will find terms in x^2 ,xy and x so how about if we take 5x common out of the first two expressions 5x^2 - 15xy try that!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok now i was wrong bfor u cant do it by cmpleting squares sry but my above reply is right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay hold on one sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now when u take 5x common it becomes 5x(x - 3y) and now the problem is with .... the left out .. So u tell me wt taking common will help us to get x-3y in the other part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the second have the only common is 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm talking about +45y-15x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what if i take -15 common then -> -15 (x-3y) so the whole eq becomes 5x(x-3y) - 15 ( x- 3y) then -> (x-3y)(5x-15) (x-3y)(5x-15) 5(x-3)(x-3y)
