i could really use some help :) please <3 Two consecutive negative intergers have a product of 30. What are the intergers ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

guess! try to consecutive numbers like 4 and 5 and see if they multiply to get 30

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh :) ohkay thanks !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since 4*5 =20 that is wrong, so try 5 and 6

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

(-x) (-x+1) therefore: -x(-x+1) = 30 x^2 -x -30 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-5 x -6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-5 N -6 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but they are negative so wouldnt it be 2 negative numbers ?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

so -5 & -6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes :) i got 30 :) thanks you guys are amazing <3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

product of even numbers of negative numbers is positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahh negative ones i should read. yes -5 and -6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how about a question like the width of a triangle is 2 inches less then its length , adnt eh area is 35 square inches what are the length and width of the rectangle ; would i try to plug in numbers to give me 35 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 7 & 5 ? correct ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya 7 n 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if somthing is twice the other number it is added to the first number or multiplied

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 times the other number = number + number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks :) helped alot ./

OpenStudy (anonymous):

theese confuse me ok look '; two negative intergers have a sum of -12 and product of 11 . what are the intergers? and how do you get it because these always are hard for me :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-11 n -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but how did u get it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the length of a rectangle exceeds its width by 12 inches and the area is 85 square inches what is the length and width ? i got 73 and 12 is that correct ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is just simple enough..11 has only 1 n 11 as its divisors ..lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wrong...its 5 n 17 :p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow your smart lol ; how about this one :P the length of a rectangle plus its width is 24cm the area is 143 square cm ; what is teh length and width ; do you plug in numbers as well ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13 n 11..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how ! lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the width of a rectangle is half as long as the length . the rectangle has an area of 18 square feet . what are the length and width of rectangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you solve it ? :) i would love to know .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk the method ..lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6 n 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow your on fire :) lol how about this one :P two positive intergers have a sum of 17 and a product of 66 . what are the intergers ? :) sorry if this is to much lol . only 2 more :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u can try this btw.. x = length y=breasth u know xy.. n u know y in terms of x..so just substitute n get the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11 n 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh :) i get it teehee ; thanks ; ok ! :) lets see this is . one positive interger is 2 less then another . the product of the two intergers is 24. what are the interger? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

never mind...this is easy stuff..and there is nothing better to do than helping a lady when u r getting bored..lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6 n 4 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

last one :D the length and width of a rectangle are consecutive even intergers . the area of the rectangle is 120 square units. what are the length and width of the rectangle ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10 n 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks soooooooooooooooooooooo much :D i passed thanks to you ; your super smart !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really...i nearly failed in my maths exam.. but i blame the world cup for that..lowl
