OpenStudy (anonymous):

is dwarfism a dominant disorder?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when you say dominant do you mean the recessive and dominant allele thingS? cause i dont think it is then cause if it was dominant more people would b like that right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It depends, dwarfism can be cause by over 200 different medical conditions. Some of them are genetically transmissible, but most aren't. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwarfism (find/read reference 3 for conditions)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Short stature itself is not considered dwarfism, thus "dwarfish" implies a disorder of some kind.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ITS DOMINANT!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha, what are your sources?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yahoo answer :) someone already asked it XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so what I really mean to say is how

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how what? can you open that link on yahoo answers cause i cant :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, i read it thanks! are their enzymes that overide the taller people enzymes like how in sickle cell anemia, those with it have enzymes that overide normal blood cells--therefore they recieve the trait of sickle cell anemia because that blood type is dominant through translation of thier alleles to more sickle cells

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my question is modified to how is it dominant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i actually dont know anything about dwarfism :S so i cant actually help :( doesnt the link help??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Achondroplasia is the most common form of dwarfism. It actually shows Incomplete Dominance. If you are heterozygous for the trait, you will be a dwarf. If you are homozygous for the trait, it is embryonic lethal. yeah alittle, thanks for your help!
