can anyone give me information on colligative properties..

In a solution, vapor pressure, boiling point and freezing point are affected with the amount of solute. That being said, the identity of the solute doesn't affect these properties, just its amount. In a solution (so solvent + solute) the vapor pressure is lower, the boiling point higher and the freezing point also lower (so need lower temp to freeze) than in the pure solvent. These properties can be explained based on intermolecular forces and free energy.
