OpenStudy (anonymous):

do it as per the method i showed.... show me the answer and i will correct it if it is wrong.... this way u will learn to do it on yr own...☺

OpenStudy (anonymous):

square both sides. solve the resulting linear equation for y check your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I came up with 12.6 and 11.2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pls show your work here..........

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok √5y+8=8 5y+8=64 5y=64-8=56 56/5=11.2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

looks good to me yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah this is ok but i think u better leave it in the fraction form 56/5....... PS: what was that 12.6 you mentioned earlier???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is 12.6 the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no you had the answer the first time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{56}{5}\] or 11.2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 11.2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank u....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

56/5 or 11.2 is the right answer .. but earlier you had said "I came up with 12.6 and 11.2" i was just asking about the 12.6 u had mentioned......... how did u get two values for this question.??
