Simplify the rational expression. State any restrictions on the variable. c^2-5c+6/c-3

Can you put parentheses in? The equation's a bit ambiguous right now

(c^2-5c+6) / (c-3)

You can factor the numerator, (c^2-5c+6), into (c-3)(c-2), right? So the equation becomes [(c-3)(c-2)]/(c-3). The (c-3) terms cancel out to get (c-2). However! The restriction is that c cannot equal 3, since the original equation has (c-3) in the denominator, and we cannot have 0 in the denominator.
