Quick question.... is anyone here able to do the assignments that go with the video lecture after watching the video lecture? I personally had to watch the first 3 lectures with some additional reading just to be able to do the first assignment. Is this the norm or am I just slow to learn this stuff?

u mean the prime number one??...most people seek help on it here...and it is quite normal...the time u take doesn't matter..u did it ..that is the only thing which matters..u will get faster once u learn the stuff :)

I had to watch lecture 3. i personally think that there is neccessary information there for someone who is a beginner. For PS1, that is. But feel free to use dpaste to put up your code and get help.

I also watched the 3 lectures first before I did any assignments, but in my case it was because I didn't know we had assignments. What matters is that you can do it. The end justifies the means.

I have the same problem! But I do the assignments in the order that they have to be done, because it gets more challenging that way. I may ask really stupid questions, but I think Grimson makes the students do it in that particular order for a reason! :)

i could not complete problem 0 without looking up on several different conflicting sites and trying about 30 different syntax so don't feel bad. i did watch the first lecture but very little in the lecture had anything to do with what actual commands to use to accomplish the tasks.

Make sure you download 'How To Think Like A Computer Scientist' though. It's pretty much the main textbook for this course.
