What is the correct classification of x2 + 15x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't know what you mean by classification? Quadratic, parabola?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

monomial,binomial or trinomial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess two terms makes it binomial.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then how do i do this one? What is the correct classification of x2 + 3x + 8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mono means one, bi means two, tri means three. count how many terms there are in your expression, and pick the answer that matches that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess it doesnt depend on number of terms.............it depends on the power of the equation.....!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is the number of term, not the power of the equation. The power of the equation is called the degree. you can have an expression like: \[x^2\] and that would be a monomial, because there is only one term.
