steps?

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

4*7 x(x^3)

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

28x^4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7*4=28 so you get 28(x^1)(x^3) add the exponents and get 28x^4

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Basically the coefficient 28 comes from multiplying the coefficients 4 and 7. The x^4 comes from multiplying x and x^3 to get \[x*x^3=x^{1+3}=x^4\]
