Essay Prompt: Is it wise to put things off if you can? It's an SAT practice essay and I'm trying to think of examples. The one literary example I got is from Jane Eyre, Jane did not wait to demand education away from Mrs. Reed's house, which made her prosper intellectually and emotionally in the long run. Can anyone think of a historical example?

It was pushed back again by the early presidents but became an issue when state rights came to the forefront at the time of the civil war. See the Connecticut Compromise for information concerning the 3/5 rule and look for information concerning Jefferson which is under debate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Jefferson_and_slavery
