help me to simplify this: abx-2aby/2y-x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in the numerator take (-ab) out as a common factor and what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont get it..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok.if we take (-ab) out as a common factor we get: (-ab)(2y-x)/(2y-x)...now the 2y-x on top and at the bottom cancel and you left with -ab as an answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u show me how did you get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just did. ok in the numerator you have abx-2aby...now if we take out (-ab) as common since it appears in both terms then we get (-ab)(2y-x), if u multiply this out u will see that u will get back to abx-2aby. now we have 2y-x on top and at the bottom, so we can cancel them.u are left with -ab after the cancelation and ther is nothing else u can do so the answer is (-ab)

okay.. i get it.. thank you
