Now this is the other way around. remember how last time we had e^(2x)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
Okay last time we had to take ln to get the x down, now we will have to raise everything to the e to get it out of ln
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
Okay so:
first simplify this a bit. Subtract 3 from both sides and type what u get.
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
are u still here?

9ln(x-2)=5
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
Okay, now divide both sides by 9, see the point here is to get the Ln(____) part on it's own
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
MTH_Dumbo?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x-2=.5555
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
I think u meant:
ln(x-2)=0.5555

yeah
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
so now:
e^[ln(x-2)]=e^(0.5555)
and e^LnA = A, therefore:
x-2 = e^(0.55555)
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
add two to both sides, evaluate and u are done.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so would I have ln(x)=2.5555
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
No u don't need Ln we alread got rid of it when we raised e^Ln(x-2)

so how would I enter x=2.5555 to get my final answer?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Hello?
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
oh sorry i didn't notice ur response..
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
x-2 = e^(0.55555)
x = e^(0.5555)+2
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
that's ur answer

When I enter ln(.5555)+2 on my calculator, I'm getting 1.4121 which is not the answer my book has.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Wait!!! Nevermind! I see what I did wrong. I got it now.
OpenStudy (bahrom7893):
i told u e^(0.5555) no wonder haha anyway good for u!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I know, I know. I forgot to hit shift on my calculator to get e^. Lol
