7/6x+1/3 how do i simplify this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have to get common denomicators

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 21/18x is the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it (7/6)x or 7/(6x)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 7 over 6x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right so the lcd is then 6x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(7+2x)/(6x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what would be the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

theres no 2 in the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right, but you need common denominators

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you want to add these fractions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok u have 7/(6x) + 1/3 to add these fractions u need the same denominator the lcm here is 6x so to get 6x for both u need to multiply the 1st fraction by 1 and the 2nd fraction by 2x/2x: 7/(6x)(1/1)+(1/3)(2x/2x) 7/(6x)+2x/(6x) so it becomes (7+2x)/(6x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and thats the end?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is the end , no way to simplify furter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what i though biut wasnt sure. know anything about complex fractions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what your question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/b divided by 1/a-1/b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get confused when theres a fraction under under the divide sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To divide by a fraction, turn it upside down (reciprocal) and multiply by it instead.
