x^2-2x^-2 --------- x^3 how can you simplify this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you factor anything out in the numerator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the problem is \[ x ^{2}-2x ^{-2}\div x ^{3}\] except the x^3 is on the bottom of the fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^-1-2x^-5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x ^{-1}-2x ^{-5}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both terms on the top (numerator) need to be divided by the term on the bottom (the denominator). With division, you subtract the power (index).

there cant be negative exponents though
