Which hand minute hand, hour hand or second hand?

OpenStudy (moongazer):

minute and hour?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

consider, at 2:30, the minute hand is 4/12 of the clock's circumference away from the hour hand. 4/12 of 360 degrees is 120 degrees.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

From the diagram, the half of a clock is 180 degrees and the hours divide the face into 6. So you want 4/6 of 180 = 120 degrees.

The angle should be 105 degrees. The hour hand will be half way between 2 and 3. The distance between each number on the clock is 30 degrees or 360/12. The distance between half a number is 15 degrees. We have 15 degrees between where the hour hand is and 3 plus the distance between 3 and 6 which is 90 degrees: 15+90 = 105 degrees.
