How to balance equations ?

To balance the equation you need to make the number of each atom/element is the same on each side. For example, to balance SnO2 + H2 → Sn + H2O there are 2 oxygen atoms on the reactants side but only 1 on the products side so you will put a 2 in front of the H20 like so; SnO2 + H2 → Sn + 2H2O but now there are 4 hydrogen atoms on the right so you balance it again by putting a 2 in front of the hydrogen on the right hand side like so, SnO2 + 2H2 → Sn + 2H2O. When balancing equations though you cannot change the subscript numbers you can only put numbers in front of each element/atom.
Thank you Amy
When SnO2 +H2 → Sn + H20 becomes SnO2 +H2 → Sn + 2H20 are the hydrogen atoms multiplied or added
