factor completely 3x^2+17x+10 can someone show me how to do this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x+5) (3 x+2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x+5) (3 x+2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can either use the quadratic formula or "guess" (3x )(x ) u know the numbers multiply to 10 so try the factors.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so because there is now a 3 infront of the first x nothing changes? someone told me i had to mulitpli 3x & 10 or something ..im really confused lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the quadratic formula nothing changes u just plug in a,b,c as usual.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Someone probably told u a rule about multiplying to give 10 and adding to....etc. This usually only works when a is 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x^2+17x+10 3x^2+15x+2x+10 3x(x+5)+2(x+5) (3x+2)(x+5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's another way, divide the 17 instead.
