6y=4ysquared-4 y =?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4y^2 - 6y - 4 = 0 simplify by dividing by 2 2y^2 - 3y - 2 = 0 now we need to factor this (if possible): we need two numbers which add up to -3 and multiply to give 2(-2) these are -2 and +1 s0: (2y + 1 )(y - 2 ) = 0 so y = 1, -0.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

double check math it may be 2, -.5

Jimmy rep was right, need to simplify first!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I am correct and you can verify if you want by checking wolframalpha. (2y + 1 )(y - 2 ) = 0 so y =-.5, (2(-.5)+1)= 0 and y= 2 (2-2)=0
