we say we are like gigher animals or rather intelligent than other beings iwant to know how can we confirm it ? probably the crows or even ants might find us very primitive dont u think ???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we can confirm that by just simply making sense of the world around us. We have technology that crows and ants don't have. Although they are very innovative but not in term of problem solving. Problem solving to them comes through the process of evolution and we surpass that process and innovate through our imagination. That's the major difference.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you saying our problem solving ability was not developed by evolution? Or are you saying that every tool use or problem solving strategy crows use has been evolved? Crows have learned to use cross walks to make cars crack nuts, http://www.metacafe.com/watch/242315/clever_bird/. They have been taught to gather coins to put in bird vending machines, http://www.ted.com/talks/joshua_klein_on_the_intelligence_of_crows.html. Definitely watch that TED talk. Ant have technology we don't, can you build massive underground tunnels several 1000 times your size? Can you farm aphids?

u are asking a question back to my question . can u tell or prove anything technically

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was asking a question back at the other response actually. This all pretty much depends on how you define "intelligent" and "primitive". Take a look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_cognition

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Luckily we are intelligent enough to react to stimuli, which is a step above plants. Either way, we created the term intelligence. Intelligence can be defined, studied and tested. In certain aspects it can be still be disputed, but to say that crows look at us as inferior beings is a bit absurd. We can tell that crows, as well as most other animals don't even have a "perspective" of the world, just by dissecting them. Now if humans are the only known living beings that are aware of their own mortality and strive to understand the world them, I think it'd be safe to say that we are not only high on the food chain than a crow, but we also have bigger brains.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do plants not react to stimuli? Plant flowers and leaves close based on day/night cycles, they flower based on day length, some react to touch, they grow based on gravity, they release certain chemicals when being eaten by other organisms, they will grow flowers with different colors based on soil pH. Saying they don't react to stimuli is completely grossly inaccurate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and also how do u kno that they dont abt mortality etc etc ? they might have a different language for all those thing so we dont understand it ! @braydaze and @fabbyrob hi5 gud one :D
