Trying to confirm my answer, please help!
I am trying to solve this problem: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=int%3A+lnsqrt%28x^2-4%29
I was able to break it up using log rules to this: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=%281%2F2%29integrate%3A+ln%28x%2B2%29+integrate%3Aln%28x-2%29
From there I am able to just solve two seperate integrals using by parts method.
After all of my work I have the final answer of: \[(1/2)[((x+2)(\ln(x+2)-1))+((x-2)(\ln(x-2)-1))]\]
Of course W|A's answer are always insanely simplified and what not so I am not 100% sure whether my final answer is correct, could anyone help me confirm it?
I dont see anyway to further factor or anything...
I took the derivative of your answer and got: 1/2(log(x+2)+log(x+2)), which I think means that you treated the two integrals as though they were added in your step where you broke it up. Sorry, I will work on it and try to post.
Thanks :)
No, it was correct, good job! Except you forgot to put +C
Thanks!!
