if f(x)=3-x^2 , find f(2+triangle x) HELLPPP:(

hero (hero):

replace x with 2 + triangle x: \[3 - (2+\Delta{x})^2\]

hero (hero):

If necessary, you can also expand the binomial square

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im still confused:( online math dictionaries and such described the triangle x to be another way to say the slope or at least along that line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but 3-x^2 is a parabola

hero (hero):

I will find out what it should be

hero (hero):

Apparently we do have to expand the \[ (2+\Delta{x})^2 \]

hero (hero):

If we do that, we will get: \[3-(4+2\Delta {x} +( \Delta{x})^2)\]

hero (hero):

Which simplifies to \[-1 - 2\Delta{x} -(\Delta{x})^2\]

hero (hero):

So that should be it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait wouldnt it be -1-4Δx-(Δx)^2 ?
