First you have to get the area of the triangles: Left triangle has a base of (16-7-4) = 5 Left Triangle: \[(1/2)(5)(4) = 10\] Right Triangle: \[(1/2)(4)(4) = 8 \] Total area: \[10+8+(7)(4) = 46\] To calculate the chance we get the area of the triangles / total area: \[18/46 = 9/23\]
