Solve 10^x=1/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-ln5/ln10 You should get a scietific calculator in order to use logarithms in your calculations(based on your previous question)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But how exactly would I plug this into my graphing calculator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There should be an LN button, no other way.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk i think i did it wrong -log(5)/log(2) + log(5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[10^x = 1/5\] now using the concept that \[a*log(b) = log(b^a)\] we can manipulate the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take the log of both sides \[log(10^x) = log(1/5)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use the rule from above: \[x*log(10) = log(1/5)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve for x
