Bayside Insurance offers two health plans. Under plan A, Giselle would have to pay the first $180 of her medical bills, plus 35% of the rest. Under plan B, Giselle would pay the first $230, but only 30% of the rest. For what amount of medical bills will plan B save Giselle money? Assume she has over $230 in bills. Giselle would save with plan B if she had more than $? in bills?

She would save money if her bills were greater than $1000

1000 wasn't right ...

If she had x amount with her.then calculate the amount she would have to pay in each case. Plan A 180+(x-180)*.35 Plan B 230+(x-230)*.3 For her to save money on plan B, the amount she pays using plan B should be less than that using plan A,so, 230+(x-230)*.3 < 180+(x-180)*.35 50+.3x-69<.35x-63 44<.05x x>44*20 = 880
