Please help find volume =

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the area of the triangle at the top, then multiply by height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the area of the triangle is base x height divided by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6(4) divided by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 4x8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then multiply by 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

144?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

4x8 is fine

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then multiply by 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

192?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

32*6=192; yep; then divide that in half since its a triangle shape

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in half wby what?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

??? what do you mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that might not work

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its a rt triangle; half of a box ... itll work fine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do i divide 192 bye?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

split 192 in half ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats half of 192?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you really need to do that one on your own .....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it may look like the 6 is a hypot; but its really a leg by the diagram

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i feel so stupid 96 haha

OpenStudy (amistre64):

much better :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do u do a la version i cant figure it out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A prism of height 12" has a rhombus with diagonals 6" and 8" for a base. Find the volume and the lateral area. V = cu. in. L.A. = sq. in.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

LA just means the area of the sides; without the top and bottom

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lateral area

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now i k the volume is 288 but how u do la

OpenStudy (amistre64):

split your diags in half .... and use them to find the length of your sides

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you end up with a 3-4-5 triangle where 5 is the side lentgth of the rhombus

OpenStudy (amistre64):

since the height is 12; you have 4 sides that are 12*5 in area

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 60?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yep; one side is 60; now there are 4 sides altogether
