Solve sqrt5x+4=15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

121/5 do you need me to go over how to do this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait. one sec..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{5x+4}=15\] or \[\sqrt{5x}+4=15\] ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes please =) is there a shortcut to figure it out? I have a serious problem remembering steps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the second one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, then that's the answer... let me explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First, start off by isolating \[\sqrt{5x}\] by subtracting 4 from both sides, that gives you \[\sqrt{5x}=11\] now to get rid of the square root, you'll have to square both sides of the equation which will give you 5x=11^2 11*11=121 so you have 5x=121 now isolate x by dividing it and the other side of the equation by 5 which gives you x=121/5 and 121/5 is already simplified so is your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow!! That sounds so simple that way. Thank you soooo much! =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol it kinda is but can get tricky :) You're very welcome
