surface area of a right prism: surface area=BA+ph what does the BA and ph stand for?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

certain parts of the prism i would assume :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

grr >.< its does but i cant figure out which goes to which =P

OpenStudy (amistre64):

me either, since it doesnt quite fit the definition of the SA of a rt prism ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well then whats your definition, because im sure it much better then this crap there teaching me =)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

SA of a rt prism is simply the area of all the surface. For a rt prism we have a top and bottom; known as base areas; and sides

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the surface area is then: base area(ba) + base area(ba) + area of sides

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the sides tend to be one of two ways: if the base is NOT a circle; the sides match the number of sides of the base .... which then makes a bunch of rectangle areas to add up if the base IS a circle, the side area (side area is known as lateral area) is simply the circumference of the base, times, the height of the prism

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dude your awsome =D

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if i were to take a stab at this; id say BA means base area, and ph means prism height; but as is ... the question is just nonsense :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

of course haha =)
