♦ Rate problems (Rate × Time = Distance) ♦ Value problems (Value × # of Items = Total Worth) ♦ Area problems (Length × Width = Area) ♦ Wage problems (Hourly Wage × Hours = Pay) ♦ Work problems (Work Rate × Time = Work Completed) ♦ Mixture problems (Percentage × Amount = Part) ♦ Simple Interest problems (Interest Rate × Amount Invested = Interest Earned) ♦ Etc. What do all of these types of problems have in common? Why do you think that a chart helps in developing a plan for solving?
I have no input because it might be thought rude.
A rate is a little bit of something per little bit of something else. For speeds, it might be miles per hour (like 13 miles per 1 hours). If you multiply by the bottom number you'll get the top, because the rate is simply a ratio.
