just grab the numbers in front of the variables and then the number after the equal. The first line would be: 1 1 6 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then 1 1 1 3 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay that helps a bunch. and this method is better then elimination or substitution why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just speed?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

speed, and it reduces clutter on your paper. Theres no need to write out x, y, and z every time, since all your really messing with are the coefficients.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In a sense, what you are doing is elimination, just without writing down the variables over and over.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that makes sense... so all you really need to make sure you do is get them all in the same variable order?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right. order is very important.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you Joe. It has been a while so you are helping immensley.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no prob :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

about to post a new one...lol a bit different
