given the ratonal function y=x^2/x-6 vertical asymptote: No___Yes____ Equation of asymptote:_________ horizontal asymtote: no______yes_____ equation of asymptote:_________ slant asymptote no______ yes_______ Equation of asymptote__________

OpenStudy (amistre64):

vert asymps are what zeros out the denominator after all things have factored out; in this case id be what ... x=6 i believe

OpenStudy (amistre64):

horiz asymps is what the value approaches as x gets very large.... in this case there is no horiz asymp

OpenStudy (anonymous):

fill in the blanks if u could

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i am ... in my own way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nvm i get what u r saying

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about slant

OpenStudy (amistre64):

slant asymps are when you an equation of a line that the ends approach as x gets big; this one whould have one. and we find it by dividing it out right and tossing away the remainder

OpenStudy (amistre64):

x+6 <-- equation of slant asymp -------- x-6 | x^2 -x^2+6x ---------- 6x - 6x -36 --------- -36 <-- remainder so toss it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how do i write eq for slant asymptote

OpenStudy (amistre64):

y = x+6
