What is the difference between RNA and DNA?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

DNA is double stranded, while RNA is single stranded. The sugar in DNA nucleotides is deoxyribose, the sugar in RNA nucleotides are ribose.

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Hi, I'm sure others will give you a technical definition, but my colloquial definition is that RNA is like the 'photocopies' of the DNA. The DNA is like the super good copy that you don't want to ruin and the RNA is the cheap photocopies running around the cells busy forming proteins.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.rna is made up of ribonucleic acid and dna is made up of deoxyribose nucliec acid. 2.in the strand of rna the complementary nitrogen base of A is U while in dna it is T 3.rna is less stable as it is made up of ribosesugar in which OH is present which make it unstable on 2 no. of carbon while in dna O is absent which make it stable thus it is also called genetic material

if u need more detail visit khanacademy.org...... :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in dna the ratio of nitrogen bases are almost equal in proportion whereas an rna they aren't in equal proportion!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nice the way u broke it down trancenova

Thanks Trey :)
