Is the term (x + 2) a factor of the polynomial shown below? ƒ(x)=x^4+5x^3+10x^2+20x+24 A. Yes, the remainder is 48. B. Yes, the remainder is 0.

You would check by plugging in -2 (because x +2 = 0 gives x = -2) and seeing if you get 0. Just looking at the answer choices though. I'd pick B. There is no way the answer could be "yes" and you have a remainder other than 0. When something is a factor, it never leaves a remainder.

divide the whole thing with long division... by (x+2) exciting!
