Give the equation of the horizontal asymptote of the function shown below. g(x)=7/(x^2+5) A. y = 7/5 B. y = 7 C. y = 0 D. x = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its for sure one of the y = (blas)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

If the degree of the denominator is greater than degree of numerator, then asymptote is always y = 0 because as x gets very large the fraction gets smaller and smaller

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i agree with dumbcow... horizontal asymptotes are limits if i remember right... imagine x approaching infiniti. 7/infiniti will approach 0, therefore y=0. (its y because it is horizontal).
