what is mitotic division?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the division in which equal amount of chromosomes is divide such that the cell is 2n and after division two daughter cell also have 2n, 2n

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the parent cell creates two cells exactly identical to itself, with equal amount of DNA. There are 4 steps. 1) Prophase 2) Metaphase 3) Anaphase 4) Telophase. in prophase the chromatid (which is just DNA) condenses into chromosomes and the nuclear envelope of the cell disappears. in metaphase the chromosomes align at the center of the cell and the spindle fibers (which are microtubular proteins originating from the centrioles) being to reach toward the chromosomes. in anaphase the spindle fibers attach to the centromeres (the middle) of the chromosomes and then begin shortening, pulling the separated chromatids to opposite ends of the cell. in telophase the cellular membrane of the two new cells form and two (2n) daughter cells have just been created.

It is the same as mitosis as opposed to meiosis.
