Solve this system of equations by the substitution method. 5x-3y=-11 3x+2y=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in the second equation: x= (1-2y)/3 then replacing x in the first equation: 5(1-2y)/3 -3y=-11 so that leaves y=2 and x= -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

meh yours is more simplified, mines was gonna be long, but for explanation purposes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should do it anyway ^^...

hero (hero):

I don't like that method of substitution. I'd rather solve for y first, then set y = y and eliminate y as a variable that way.

hero (hero):

Sometimes, it's not always about "simplified"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Hero, what you said is the same I did......but I did it with the 'x' instead of with the 'y'....in the end is the same process :S........
